Worship and Missions

On Sunday, September 19th we will spend the morning in mission and service to our community - wherever we may be!

We will begin at 9:30 a.m. with a short worship service (online friends you can join us for worship via our usual worship channels) and will then go out to complete our missions. At 11:00 a.m. we will gather back together, both in-person and online, to share our mission projects and experiences. (More about this below.)

If you worship in-person with us at our Vestal campus we have missions that you can participate in both from the church or by going to a close location to help with a project in our community.

If you would like to stay at the church the following projects are available for you:

  • Make centerpieces (supplies and guidelines provided) to be used on October 23rd when we host the First Responders of Vestal for a free meal in their honor.
  • Create business size cards to distribute at the same meal with words of encouragement, hope and scripture.

If you would prefer to go out into our community we are working with Town officials to identify a project that will be beneficial to those in our community (ex clean up a park, paint playground equipment, etc.)

You will have the opportunity to sign up for your mission of choice during our Fall Kick Off on September 12th.

If you join us online each week, we encourage you to find a mission in your community to contribute to.

Here are some suggestions of missions that you can do no matter where in the world you’re located:

  • Donate food to a local food pantry or make a financial donation to a local not-for-profit
  • Make a meal and take it to a shut-in or neighbor
  • Donate used clothing to Good Will or another similar agency
  • Send notes of thanks to your first responders, teachers, nurses or doctors
  • Pay it forward the next time you are in the drive through line
  • Call someone who is a shut-in or someone who doesn’t have many family to check on them
  • What Mission is close to your heart?  How can you contribute?

Depending on where you are located it may be easier and practical for you to complete your outreach at a time other than on September 19th.  It’s the act of caring that is important, not when you do it.  We just ask that you complete your outreach prior to 11:00 a.m. EST on September 19th.

Celebration of Missions

When we gather back together at 11:00 a.m. our in-person folks are going to meet in the church's Belfry. Online friends, we will bring you in on a special Zoom session so we can all be together.

This give us both a opportunity to share our experiences, but for our in-person and online friends to get to see and know each other better.
